ANNE OF GREEN GABLES To Be Presented By Conejo Players
Performances of this youth production will run from May 1-10.
Conejo Players presents their first youth production of the year, Anne of Green Gables, written by Ashley Griffin. The performance is set to open on May 1.
Adapted from L.M. Montgomery’s novel, Anne of Green Gables tells the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan sent from an orphanage in Nova Scotia to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert in Avonlea. The Cuthbert siblings had hoped to adopt a quiet boy to help on their farm, but instead receive Anne—a redheaded, freckle-faced free spirit who turns their lives upside down with her imagination. Audiences follow Anne as she navigates school, friendship, and growing up in this coming-of-age story.
“This production is different from most in that it relies entirely on actor creativity,” director Judy Diderrich shared. “Rather than a direct play of the book, it is about a classroom of students telling, and acting out, the story. Students act out not only the characters, but also the scenery, furniture and transportation. Whatever the story calls for, the students need to become.”
Lyra Eriksen appears as an adult Anne, now a teacher, with Harper Pierce as the student who dons a red wig to portray young Anne within the story. The cast features some of the Conejo Valley’s youth actors, including Kona Casey, Robert Waggoner, Layna Trafican, Skylar Richards, Lyra Lira, Ava Paolini, Avalynn Sugden, Cora Dexter, Alina Lira, Sydney Judd, Camille Richards, Sianne Bongiorno, Belle Krause, and Claire Guinto.
Performances will take place from May 1-10 at Conejo Players Theater, located at 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks CA. Tickets can be purchased on the theater's website.
