Ever So Slightly Redux by RUBBERBAND Dance at HCC Performing Arts Ybor City

Ever So Slightly Redux explores the behavioral mechanisms and reflexes we develop against the ceaseless flow of irritants that bombard us in our daily lives. Most of us long for calm and resilience, but how do we get to a zone where noise and aggressiveness no longer have a place? Performed by ten dancer-athletes at the height of their power, the work captures both tension and transformation through choreographer Victor Quijada's signature fusion of breaking, ballet, and contemporary dance. Simultaneously delivering delicacy, brutality, finesse, and high-voltage action, the choreography conveys all the energy contained in urgency, revolt, chaos, and flight.

RUBBERBAND is an internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company founded in Montreal in 2002 by Victor Quijada. The company is known for its signature RUBBERBAND Method, an electrifying vocabulary combining the energy of hip-hop, the refinement of classical ballet, and the angular quality of contemporary dance. RUBBERBAND has toured extensively across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Japan, where it represented Canada at the 2005 World Expo.

Victor Quijada's many accolades include Britain's National Dance Award for Outstanding Modern Repertory, the International Touring Award of the Canadian Dance Alliance, two awards from the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, and the 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship for his choreographic work. In 2025, he received the Coronation Medal of Charles III and became a Companion of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec.
