West Coast Players present Tom Griffin's THE BOYS NEXT DOOR from June 11th to June 27th. This production is directed by Rand Smith. The show runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and on Sundays at 2 PM. The West Coast Players Theatre is located at 21905 US 19 N in Clearwater.
Mr. Griffin's play gives a peek at the lives of four mentally-challenged men to see that in their daily routine the "little things" that many commonly take for granted often become funny, and sometimes surprisingly moving and meaningful. It is precisely those simple heartfelt moments that touches the audience in ways that reminds everyone that the challenged, like everyone else, want what all want: to love and laugh, and to find meaning, purpose, and dignity.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students and military. Groups of 10 or more are $12; advance reservations suggested. For reservations, please call 727-43-SCENE (727-437-2363). The theatre accept Mastercard, Visa, and Discover cards.
West Coast Players was founded in 1994 in Oldsmar by a group of actors interested in providing live theatre to the community. They performed one show there and in 1995 they moved to the Civic Center in Clearwater Beach, before returning to Oldsmar in 1996.
In 1997, they moved to the Community Center in Dunedin where they began performing four shows per season. In April, 2004 West Coast Players took up residence at the Mattox Performing Arts Center in the Conmy Center on the campus of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin.
In December of 2008, West Coast Players opened the doors to our very own, 100-seat theatre located in central Clearwater. More information, including directions, can be found at www.wcplayers.org.
