Top Twelve Reasons to Attend Seasonal Sparkle!

By: Dec. 15, 2016

It's NOT just another holiday pops concert. We've created a celebration of all FOUR seasons with something for everyone.

12. Old favorites performed in new ways: You may know "Baby it's Cold Outside" from recordings. Todd Donovan performs a fun and flirtatious version with the mezzos of the chorus and a jazz orchestration. The voice of an angel coming from a good looking man. Need we say more?

11. Fabulous goodies in the lobby. St. Petersburg Bakery will tickle your tastebuds. The concession stand sells champagne! St. Petersburg Opera volunteers sell water bottles and other mementos. Get your last minute shopping done with zero hassle!

10. Hidden gems: "Voices of Spring" by waltz king Johann Strauss Jr. Who needs to hear "The Blue Danube" again?

9. Memories of your youth: "Try to Remember" if you've ever heard this with a live 38 piece orchestra and great singers.

8. An amazing youth chorus: 28 adorable children raising their voices to celebrate the USA, food and Santa!

7. Sempre libera: the reigning Opera Idol, Christina Franco, will stand and deliver the anthem to freedom from La traviata.

6. It's a miracle! We thought the "Hanukkah Fantasy" was only going to last for one minute, but it goes on for a glorious 8 minutes.

5. Beautiful women: Susie Hellman Spatafora singing "Summertime." Her daddy's rich and her ma is good lookin'.

4. Not one but two conductors for each show! Maestro Mark Sforzini will pass the baton to celebrity guest conductors Craig Cranston or Lee Davisson. Sforzini will take the reins for the rest of the show with his customary effervescence.

3. Nobody sleeps! Samuel Hall will electrify you with "Nessun dorma." If you can sleep through this, you might be dead. We'll check for your pulse.

2. Presents! "The Musicological Journey through the Twelve Days of Christmas" makes that sometimes tedious list of gifts fun with each day portrayed in a different musical era.

1. Twelve Days AFTER Christmas: So what do you do with all those gifts? Todd Donovan has ideas, with orchestration by Mark Sforzini. Don't miss it!
