Theatre Odyssey Announces Call for Scripts for the 2018 Sixth Annual Student Playwriting Festival

Comedy, drama, mystery -- the best short plays by area students will be brought to life onstage at the Cook Theatre (FSU/Asolo Center for the Performing Arts), February 3 and 4.
Gulf Coast middle and high school students are invited to submit scripts for Theatre Odyssey's Sixth Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival. All scripts will be considered by Theatre Odyssey readers and the best eight plays will be given full productions.
Scripts will be judged by three local theatre professionals, and the winning playwright will receive a $500 prize. Runner-up receives $300.
Last year's winner was Luke Valadie of Saint Stephens Episcopal School for a play about the author of the hymn "Amazing Grace." Runner-up was Richard Caldwell of Sarasota High School for "Goodbye, Old Friend," about homeless veterans.
To submit a play, please review the 2017 submission guidelines on the website.
The deadline for entries, whether submitted electronically or by mail, is November 15.
