The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center presents Dan Dyer on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. as part of TBPAC's Club Jaeb series. The Club Jaeb Series is presented by Merchants Association of Florida.

Discovering his musical voice in his late teens, Dyer quickly rose to prominence in Austin, Texas, during the late 90s with the much-heralded band Breedlove. After touring with Breedlove, Dyer found his way into commercial songwriting, with songs placed in marketing campaigns for Budweiser, Chevrolet, Dr. Pepper and Campbell's Soup. Dyer then headed north for a bit of his so-called "New York education," where he collaborated with veteran rock legend Lenny Kravitz, who produced and released Dyer's first solo album in 2005, ...Of What Lies Beneath.

His self-titled 2007 release has a strong cadence that ties the album together and entices one to discover its many intrinsic subtleties. From the chain-gang inspired sound of "Love Chain" to the gospel-tinged "I Walk On Guilded Splinters," and Stewart Copeland-esque syncopations of "Play on Little Children," Dyer weaves a diverse fabric that extends beyond conventional musical boundaries.

Dyer's soul-revivalist live performance draws from a wealth of influences, including Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers, bringing with him a lengthy catalog of songs, many recorded, but still unreleased.

After seasons spent in New Orleans and the South, and gathering inspiration from greats like Dr. John, Dyer has taken on a voodoo-centric stage persona. The audience is treated to a special brand of commotion as Dyer switches from piano to guitar, sometimes performing with a boyish grin, and other times with a perspiring concentration. Dan Dyer's voice and performance intensity are raw and hot, yet soulful and sensitive, drawing in fans from all walks of life.

This performance by Dyer is part of TBPAC's Club Jaeb series. On the occasional Monday night, the Jaeb Theater is transformed into an intimate space featuring music that touches our lives. Audiences can come early for the 6:30 p.m. Monday Music Mingle, with affordable light snacks and drinks and then stay to see the show.

Regularly priced tickets for the Monday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. performance by Dan Dyer are $25.50 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the TBPAC Ticket Office or online at www.tbpac.org.
