Originally created by Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky for the Ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev in 1913, The Rite of Spring is here entirely choreographed again by Wayne McGregor for the hundredth anniversary of the work’s creation. The British contemporary choreographer revisits specifically for the Bolshoi, the themes of the Russian spring, The Adoration of the Earth and The Exalted Sacrifice applying energy and fluidity, the characteristics of his style to this new creation.
