Alan Seymour's The One Day of the Year returns to New Theatre, Newtown for a single Anzac Day performance on April 27, 2026. Grant Dodwell steps into the role of Alf Cook, five years after his acclaimed performance in the 2021 reading, replacing Paul Hanlon who withdrew for personal reasons. Dodwell is widely known for his long-running role in the TV series A Country Practice, as well as his more recent work documenting Australian theatre. Directed by Les Solomon, the play explores the conflict between a father's devotion to Anzac tradition and his son's determination to challenge it.
