The CAN Principle is a one-man comedy written and performed by Jonny Pasvolsky, directed by Jo Turner, following self-proclaimed guru Mervin Gimplik as he peddles his "game-changing" life philosophy to audiences in Bondi. Inspired by a childhood memory of opening a souvenir can labelled "Genuine Australian Sunshine" and finding nothing inside, the show parodies the modern self-improvement economy and the snake-oil salesmen lining up to profit from it. Beneath the satire runs a personal thread drawn from Pasvolsky's own experience migrating from South Africa to Australia and navigating cultural differences. The show arrives at Bondi Pavilion following sell-out seasons at Adelaide Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
