A deliciously dark new comedy from Miranda Middleton and Ziggy Resnick.
After its world-premiere production in Melbourne, ‘Pear-Shaped’ makes its Sydney debut in a slightly new shape and size. Featuring some original design elements and sound design, a new draft of the play will be staged as an in-progress reading at ARA Darling Quarter Theatre as part of the Monkey Baa Studio program.
Young designer Frankie is working on their latest project - a brand new adaptation of one their favourite childhood stories, Alice in Wonderland. The pressure is on to deliver something entirely new but a surprise visit from their sister will instead send Frankie tumbling down a rabbit hole of memories they’d rather forget.
Adapting elements of Lewis Carroll’s classic story in an entirely original and imaginative way, this deliciously dark new comedy explores what happens when food, a symbol of love, family and culture, becomes the enemy.
Never losing sight of the magic and messiness of sisterhood, ‘Pear-Shaped’ is about growing up, growing down, and everything in between.
A rare opportunity to peek behind the curtain of the play writing process, and see how a new Australian play emerges from the playwright's mind and onto the stage. Featuring performances from Ziggy Resnick, Luisa Scrofani, and Deborah Galanos.
