Cicada at Wollongong Art Gallery

Written by Wollongong writer and creative Tegan Ware, this MerrigongX production blends acting with visual art, also featuring works from artist Steve Tierny. Cicada follows a young artist from childhood dreams in dusty 90s suburbia to the dizzying heights of success in the upscale art gallery world, before his consequent exile. Audiences are guided by gallery attendants on an expedition through the boy's childhood and family, exploring why he inevitably did what he did. The work reconsiders traditional theatre and visual art spaces, creating an immersive experience for Wollongong audiences.
