Sydney Opera House To Make Wednesday Great Again

Monday 10 September, 2018. Announced on a mediocre Monday, the Sydney Opera House has kicked off a campaign to 'Make Wednesday Great Again', offering Sydneysiders incredible 2 for 1 deals on shows and events, and food and drink specials to add some spontaneity to the midweek.

2 for 1 Wednesdays will make show tickets, dining and parking at Australia's leading performing arts centre more accessible to Sydneysiders with last minute offers, encouraging new audiences to visit.

Sydney Opera House General Manager of Marketing Christina Erskine says: "Locals love 'cheap movie Tuesdays' and 'sausage sizzle Saturday' but the humble hump day is yet to carve out its place in our social calendar.

"The Opera House has stepped up to the plate by offering 2 for 1 Wednesday deals. It's all to encourage more Sydneysiders to visit us - perhaps for the first time - and uncover the huge breadth of what's on offer from comedy, theatre and contemporary music to darn good fried chicken."

A tongue-in-cheek campaign launches today, bringing Wednesday to life in human form as its ambassador.

Wednesday, the awkward middle child of the week, says: "No longer will I be known for my classic moments like leftover curry and leg day. Thanks to the Sydney Opera House I'm massaging majesty back into the midweek by bringing incredible 2 for 1 deals to the masses.

"Here's to us Sydney, let's smash the stereotypes and Make Wednesday Great Again!"

2 for 1 Wednesday deals will be made available via email to subscribers each Tuesday night from 5:00pm, and can be booked online until the Wednesday night performance, or when tickets are sold out.

Deals will vary from week to week and will include shows presented by the Sydney Opera House and its resident companies; Opera Australia, Sydney Theatre Company and Bell Shakespeare, specials on food and drink from onsite restaurants including Opera Kitchen and Portside Sydney and reduced parking at the Sydney Opera House Wilson Carpark.
