In 2007, the American dance company of Pilobolus, the whole world was fascinated. The television images of her spectacular performances in the context of the Oscars went around the globe. So you had never seen anything: behind an illuminated screen, people ball elegantly into objects, body added to impressive outsized, were new figures, fell apart again. The audience was entranced.
Shadow Theatre? Dance? Not only the figures resulting from human bodies are amazing. Spectacular effects, the Pilobolus are generated by various movable screens on several levels. Producing images beyond the Centre of gravity. With acrobatics and poetry the dancers and dancers show us that the man par excellence can be also animal, plant, landscape, and the universe. As the shadows of the dancers transformed into cars, elephants, rising flowers, castles or Centaurs.
After sold-out shows across Europe and successful Swiss tour 2012, Pilobolus with "Shadowland" at the beginning of year comes back to Basel.
