Feather boas and high-heels are the order of the day once the entire stage has been transformed into the nightclub, La Cage Aux Folles. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mikael Samuelson (familiar to the Swedish audience for Phantom of the Opera) back to the musical stage on which he now takes on the role of drag show artist, Zaza. His partner, nightclub owner and master of ceremonies, Georges, is played by the very popular Hans Josefsson. Georges has a son, whom he and Zaza have brought up together. When the son wants to get married to the daughter of an ultra-conservative politician, family ties are put in jeopardy. The musical is filled with boundless love, warmth and humour as well as magnificent show numbers (Vår bästa tid är nu[Best of Times], Jag är som jag är [I am what I am]) but it is also a poignant tale of prejudice, standing up for yourself and for everyone's right to be the person they are. La Cage Aux Folles is being staged in collaboration with The Oscar Theatre in Stockholm. The director here is Bo Hermansson who, with more than 40 years in this business, has given us beloved TV series as well as highly-praised musical productions. Roland Söderberg is adapting Lehna Edvall's set design for our larger stage. When Nick Davies raises the baton for this enchanting show, there will be even more "cagelles" in the ensemble and more musicians in the orchestra pit.
