LIVE STREAM READING OF GAMES BY HENRY NAYLOR at Playhouse Teater
GAMES - LIVESTREAM READING MAY 26th 7 pm CET
Olympics turned into politics - compete or boycott?
Dear audience, we dove into the wonders of live streaming and believe we are now ready for an evening of live theatre together with you again! A few of us will live stream the reading here from the theatre, and you all can enjoy it in the comfort and safety of your own home. Free of charge - hope you'll join us!
In GAMES, Henry Naylor's reality based play, we meet two German athletes: Fencer Helene Mayer and high-jumper Gretel Bergmann. Both in top shape, aiming for a gold medal in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. And had their athletic skills been all that mattered, they'd have a good chance at winning. However, much more than that will come into play here. Anti-Semitism and right-wing populism are surging, Hitler is on his way up. Will these two Jewish athletes still be allowed to take part? And if so, should they? Or should they rather support the fight for boycotting the world's biggest sporting event?
Games world premiered in 2018, it has won several awards and has been performed in e.g. London, New York and Adelaide with great reviews. Playwright Henry Naylor is also a a prominent writer of satirical scripts for TV shows and series and has been named "one of our best new playwrights" by The Times.
The reading is performed in English, directly from the original script.
