BWW Preview: AS IT IS IN HEAVEN at the Oscars Theatre, Stockholm

As It Is In Heaven - newly written musical will open 13th of September 2018 in Stockholm...

The Swedish film As It Is In Heaven, which was nominated to Best Foreign Language Film in 2005, has been adapted to a musical which will have it's opening night the 13th of September 2018 at the Oscars Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden.

The theatre producer, Vicky von der Lancken, has wanted to create a musical based on the film for about 10 years. She's been working with the director of the film, Kay Pollack to make it happen and now it is ready for the stage. Kay Pollack has written the script together with his wife Carin Pollack among others.

The plot is in short "A successful international conductor suddenly interrupts his career and returns alone to his childhood village in Norrland, in the far north of Sweden. It doesn't take long before he is asked to come and listen to the fragment of a church choir, which practises every Thursday in the parish hall. Just come along and give a little bit of good advice. He can't say no, and from that moment, nothing in the village is the same again. The choir develops and grows. He makes both friends and enemies. And he finds love."

There will be newly written music and songs alongside the lead song "The song of Gabriella" from the film and choreography of the highest class to accompany the music.

It still hasn't been announced who will take on the roles of the main characters which were played in the film by Michael Nyqvist, Frida Hallgren and Helen Sjöholm. But I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would like to see Helen Sjöholm as Gabriella on stage as well, as she is one of Swedens´ most appreciated and loved musical stars.

Tickets will go on sale the 20th of February 2018.

This will for sure be the most talked about musical in Sweden 2018!
