About the program
The mission of the Winona State University Department of Music is to direct and encourage the musical education of students and to enrich the cultural life of the community at large through musical experiences. The Winona State University Department of Music is committed to:
Providing music degree programs that foster creativity, artistic and technical skill development, critical thinking, independent learning and understanding of and respect for multiple perspectives
Offering general education courses that introduce students to new musical experiences that deepen their understanding and appreciation of the arts
Contributing to the cultural environment of Southeastern Minnesota and the tri-state region through performances, workshops, presentations and seminars
