Bemidji State University is known as an excellent school for preparing musicians and music educators. The majority of music majors at BSU are involved in studies toward the Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. Graduates are satisfactorily placed in music education positions at close to a 100% rate. Students have also selected study toward the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, allowing for individualized tailoring of studies in areas such as Arts Management and Composition.
Many graduates choose to enter graduate school or pursue careers in related fields. Graduates of our programs include music professors at major universities, the Director for Public Relations for the Minnesota Orchestra, and the former Director of the Minnesota Opera Company. Recent BSU music graduates have won honors at national and international competitions, including the MTNA Collegiate Artist Competition.

The UConn School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present two performances this week as part of the UConn Music Inspire Series. On Thursday, Oct. 9, Ensemble Origo returns with Saravanda! Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Rehearsed readings of the musical comedy America's Next Top Kid Chef Showdown by José Casas and Jenn Hartmann Luck will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7pm and Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal St. Whimsical Cosmo Ridley hosts a top-rated kids' cooking show where four young contestants compete for the title of America's best kid chef and a $100,000 prize.
