Welcome to the Wingate University Department of Music! We celebrate both our rich tradition of music-making and our important work of cultivating leaders in the field of music. As we recognize our student's diverse backgrounds, gifts and talents, we guide them to excel in all that they do. From Grammy winners to teachers widely-recognized for their success; from church music leaders to music industry professionals, our alumni show evidence of the impact that a Wingate education has had on them. The Wingate University Department of Music, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), is widely recognized as one of the finest programs among liberal arts universities in the Southeast. Our students and ensembles have performed at state (NCMEA), regional (ACDA) and national (CBDNA) conferences. We have 100% job placement for our music education graduates, and many of our graduates have continued on to graduate school, including such esteemed programs as The Ohio State University, Louisiana State University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Acceptance Rate:
Wingate University has a general acceptance rate of 85%, and while there isn't specific data on the music department's acceptance rate, music majors are required to audition, which includes a performance, interview, and a theory assessment.

The UConn School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present two performances this week as part of the UConn Music Inspire Series. On Thursday, Oct. 9, Ensemble Origo returns with Saravanda! Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Rehearsed readings of the musical comedy America's Next Top Kid Chef Showdown by José Casas and Jenn Hartmann Luck will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7pm and Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal St. Whimsical Cosmo Ridley hosts a top-rated kids' cooking show where four young contestants compete for the title of America's best kid chef and a $100,000 prize.
