The Columbus Symphony has named Dr. Stephen Caracciolo as its new Chorus Director. Dr. Caracciolo is a conductor recognized for his passionate artistry and creative leadership in interpreting an expansive range of the choral repertoire.

Both Sides of Joni is a reimagined set of Joni Mitchell's music arranged by pianist Monika Herzig, interpreted by award-winning vocalist Janiece Jaffe, and recorded with a group of renowned jazz musicians including Greg Ward on saxophone, Jeremy Allen on bass, Carolyn Dutton on violin, and Cassius Goens on drums with guest bassist Peter Kienle. 

Theatre Now, an artist service organization dedicated to supporting musical theatre writers, continues its Industry Q&A series with an online panel discussion on Exploring Culture Without Exploiting Culture March 8th at 6:30pm.

An esteemed dramaturg and higher education leader who is passionate about teaching will serve as the next dean for The Theatre School at DePaul University. Provost Salma Ghanem announced Martine Kei Green-Rogers, Ph.D. will join the DePaul community on July 1.

The Kentucky Wesleyan College Theatre Department will present “Guys and Dolls” in the Activity Hall at 3300 Frederica St. March 25-27. Performances March 25-27 will be at 7 p.m. and the closing matinee on March 28 will be at 2 p.m.

The University of Michigan has been awarded two $5 million grants through The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation's Just Futures Initiative competition. The grants, led by professors Stephanie Fryberg and Earl Lewis, will fund projects that focus on addressing racial inequity.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Catskill's adventurous Bridge Street Theatre opened its 2019 Season on January 6 with a take-no-prisoners performance by the Zelos Saxophone Quartet. Winner of the 2018 Frances Walton Competition, this vibrant and youthful ensemble, based in San Jose, CA, presented a jaw-dropping array of classic and contemporary works. Now, the theatre bookends its season with a performance by the ensemble's only female member, the astonishing Robin Lacey (accompanied at the piano by Dan Chien) on Saturday November 30, 2019, at 7:30pm.

American Bard Theater Company presents the New York City premiere of You Wouldn't Expect, a play written by Marilynn Barner Anselmi examining the staggering truths about the coercive influence of the government-sponsored eugenics program and its direct focus on poverty and race. Cezar Williamsdirects a cast of eight, including Cherie Danielle, Adiagha Faizah, Carl Fisk, Erin Gilbreth*, Ross G. Hewitt, Malikha Mallette, Okema T Moore*, and Atiya Yanique Taylor. Fifteen performances will be staged at The Chain Theater, 312 West 36th Street in New York City, from September 19-October 7, 2018.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is pleased to announce The Aletheia Piano Trio on Sunday, October 7 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the PLAY: The Classics series continuing this fall in the magnificent, indoor Event Gallery at Bethel Woods. Presented in collaboration with Shandelee Music Festival, the goal of this series is to encourage and foster young talented emerging artists, help to build and cultivate a younger audience and increase attendance of all ages.

The ASPECT Foundation for Music & Arts presents its final concert of the season, Fete Galante: The Anatomy of Melancholy on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7:30pm at the Italian Academy at Columbia University, part of the foundation's second New York City season of illuminating performances featuring many of the most prominent performers and musical scholars of today. Fete Galante features the acclaimed New York-based Four Nations Ensemble and soprano Sherezade Panthaki, with an illustrated talk by art historian Tav Holmes.

Jim Schaeffer, the Artistic & General Director of the Center for Contemporary Opera since October 2008 announces his retirement, effective June 30, 2018.   A search for a new General Director will begin immediately.
