Houston Grand Opera Joins Forces with Houston Ebony Opera Guild, Prairie View A&M, And More For the Fourth Annual GIVING VOICE

On Friday, February 24, 2023, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will stage the fourth annual Giving Voice concert in partnership with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, the Houston Ebony Opera Guild, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas Southern University. The fourth annual concert will be presented outside the Wortham Theater Center for the first time, at the new Cathedral of the historic Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in the Third Ward, in celebration of Black History Month.
Grammy Award-Winning Opera Singer Angel Blue to Lead Public Masterclass at PVAMU

On Monday, Oct. 31, Metropolitan Opera and international soprano, Angel Blue, will lead a special public masterclass at Prairie View A&M University. As part of the program, Blue will work with undergraduate performers from PVAMU's Department of Music on their repertoire, after which she will talk about her life and career.
Pvamu Presents A Special Toni Morrison Program Celebrating The Late Nobel Prize Writer's Legacy

Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) will host a virtual event filled with music, dance, and spoken word celebrating the late Toni Morrison on the occasion of her birthday. The event will feature special appearances from PVAMU's president Ruth J. Simmons and the Inaugural writer in residence Nikki Giovanni. Toni Morrison was a Pulitzer Prize, Nobel Prize, and Presidential Medal of Freedom winner.
