Music at Gordon isn’t just sitting in class all day—it's teaching and observing in local schools. It’s moving out of the practice room and onto the stage at Symphony Hall. It’s mentoring a fourth-grade trumpet student in an after school program. It’s developing the skills and training necessary for success.
Centered on Performance: Yes, you’ll be held to a high musical and personal standard. Yes, our students are frequently accepted to top-level graduate programs. But we’re real people, focused on developing musicians in an enriching and encouraging environment. As one faculty member proclaims: “We’ll hold your hand, but be ready to run fast!”

The UConn School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present two performances this week as part of the UConn Music Inspire Series. On Thursday, Oct. 9, Ensemble Origo returns with Saravanda! Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Rehearsed readings of the musical comedy America's Next Top Kid Chef Showdown by José Casas and Jenn Hartmann Luck will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7pm and Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal St. Whimsical Cosmo Ridley hosts a top-rated kids' cooking show where four young contestants compete for the title of America's best kid chef and a $100,000 prize.
