Chuck Lavazzi Brings His Cabaret Show - JUST A SONG AT TWILIGHT - THE GOLDEN AGE OF VAUDEVILLE to the Kranzberg 3/26 & 3/27

By:

"Chuck Lavazzi proves he can wear an unlimited number of hats as the newest vaudeville guy in town. With comic and period novelties along with its share of ballads, this show promises to be as broadly entertaining as it is thoroughly researched."
-- Jim Dolan

"Chuck Lavazzi is a born showman. From Groucho to Tom Lehrer, he can do the novelty songs, as well as sell a love song or up-tempo number. I'm looking forward to seeing what he finds for us to enjoy from the days when a 'bicycle built for two' was the cat's pajamas." - Andrea Braun, theatre critic, KDHX-FM and The Vital Voice

8:00pm March 26 & 27 at the Kranzberg Arts Center 501 North Grand Blvd.

Everything old is new again in this solo cabaret debut by veteran actor, critic, and broadcaster Chuck Lavazzi. He presents a grab bag of comedy, songs and stories from the first two decades of the newly minted 20th century.

Travel back to an era that's not as bygone as you might think, when Americans put away the cares of war, social unrest, and massive technological change by reveling in the often-bawdy comedy, incredible variety, and unforgettable songs of the vaudeville stage. Get re-acquainted with standards like "Shine On Harvest Moon" and "Carolina in the Morning", laugh along with comedy classics like "The Bird on Nellie's Hat", "Last Night on the Back Porch", and "I've Got Rings on My Fingers", take a fresh new look at sentimental favorites like "Love's Old Sweet Song" and "After the Ball", and hear all the verses to "Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis".

Enjoy some vintage wine in cool new bottles with Chuck Lavazzi's "Just a Song at Twilight". It's a show guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a melody in your heart; the shine on your shoes is optional.

Chuck has been appearing on stage since the Bronze Age in roles ranging from Niels Bohr in Copenhagen to Doolitle in My Fair Lady. Most recently he was seen in Stray Dog Theatre's Rocky Horror Show, West End's Tomfoolery, and the title role in a revival of the NonProphet Theatre Company's Corleone. He has also appeared with Act Inc, New Line, the Rep, Midwest Lyric Opera, St. Louis Actors' Studio, St. Louis Shakespeare, and even the St. Louis Symphony, where he was the Narrator for Peter and the Wolf. He's the producer for the arts calendars and performing arts reviews at KDHX-FM and the local correspondent for Cabaret Scenes magazine.
