The next show in The Warehouse Theatre's current string of comedies is the music-laced, uproarious good time, The Legend of Georgia McBride.
Six middle schoolers vie for the glory of being the undisputed Spelling Bee Champion in the outrageous and fun musical comedy, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, with book by Rachel Sheinkin and music and lyrics by William Finn.
'It's time to rock and roll, friends!'
The Warehouse Theatre's main stage will light up again on September 24th with the same raucous cast of characters that blew them out on March 15th, 2020 when the pandemic began shutting down theatres all over America. Funny, touching, and vibrant, the show remains a perfect protagonist to launch the theatre back for its 2021/22 season.
'We feel it’s more important than ever to highlight the messages of connection and community'
“I was looking for something that was less hard on one performer, but also wanted to spread the wealth and hire as many artists as we could for the final Warehouse In Your House production.”
Who do we really want to be?
HEDWIG is about East German born Hansel Schmidt who becomes Hedwig Robinson, the rock 'n roll goddess and 'internationally ignored song stylist.' Hedwig tells her story over the course of this rock/cabaret/stand-up comedy show - from a childhood on the other side of the Berlin Wall, to a botched sex-change operation, abandonment, betrayal, and the search for love and wholeness. It is heartbreaking, hilarious, and will make you want to headbang!
Clay Smith's drag persona Delighted Tobehere is well known, not only in the Upstate, but all over the globe thanks to the amazing performance she delivered on America's Got Talent a few seasons ago. Now, that incredible voice and impeccable sense of comedic timing will be put on full display as the titular character in this month's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH at The Warehouse Theatre.
THE HEATH brings together the things that I love most: telling incredible stories and making music.
'I think anyone who loves to laugh, loves to love, and loves a little rock n roll will fall in love with HEDWIG.'
The Warehouse Theatre is committed to creating high-quality professional work that is vital, diverse, and adventurous. We aim to inspire and challenge our audiences and artists alike through cutting-edge productions that are not available anywhere else in the Upstate. We provide a space to grow, experiment, and engage for everyone. The Warehouse expands the reach of what is theatrically possible in Greenville.
Warehouse Theatre is at 566 W. Rich St., Greenville, SC.
