The Abbeville Opera House Presents THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER

By:

Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, adapted for the stage by Abbeville Opera House Executive Director Michael Genevie and directed by Opera House Guest Director Wendy Cox Capps, will be the second production of the 101st Winter Theatre Season in Abbeville. The show, produced in association with Erskine College, features a large and talented Opera House ensemble and opens on Friday, November 6 at 8:00 pm.

The show is an ageless classic for children and grownups alike by one of America's greatest writers, Mark Twain. "The story deals with children, with high hopes, with adventure and with love," says Genevie. The large cast, made up of members of the Opera House Players and the Opera House Youth Theatre, features a variety of both veteran performers and newcomers to the turn-of-the-century stage.

Seth Walden, a newcomer to the Opera House Youth Theatre, stars as Tom Sawyer, with Branson Hite as Huckleberry Finn. Other members of the Opera House ensemble featured in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer are: Holly Harris as Aunt Polly; Widow Douglas played by Donna Aleman; Mrs. Harper played by Ruth Freeman; Sid is Anders Timmerman; Becky Thatcher played by Maverty Casey; Walter Potter is Tyler South; Injun Joe played by David Byers; Mary Rogers is Devon Bowie; Dr. Robinson is Andy Timmerman; Ben Rogers is played by Jay Jenkins; Alfred Temple is Jake Brandt; Judge Thatcher is played by Bryan Casey; The Reverend Sprague is played by John Harris; Daryl Chandler plays Sheriff Jones; Gracie Miller is played by Danielle Morris; Amy Lawrence is Hannah Horton; Marty Cann plays Muff Potter and Lanny McKay is featured as Mark Twain.

Rounding out one of the largest casts seen on the one hundred year old stage in a very long time will be Holly Campbell, Kelsey Eller, Sally Freeman, Crystal McCurry, Allison Phillips and Madeline Phillips as the Townspeople and Meg Botts, Jess Bowie, Malloree Brandt, Isabelle Casey, Grace Ann DuBose, AnaCarol Duton, Mackenzie Freeman, Ivrie Hite, Kelsie Littleton, Carson McCurry, Isabelle Stichnoth, CaryLynn Timmerman and Grace Anne Whitmire as the School Children.
