Marjorie Barnes, internationally known jazz and Broadway performer and former member of The 5th Dimension is back by popular demand to perform an exclusive benefit concert for Trustus Theatre accompanied by the renowned Dick Goodwin and his fabulous Big Band sound. This special concert event will benefit Trustus Theatre. Marjorie Barnes and Dick Goodwin and his Big Band perform November 19 and 20, 2013 on the Trustus Main Stage. Doors and cash bar open at 6:30pm, with the show at 7:30pm. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased online at www.trustus.org , or by calling the box office at (803) 254-9732.

Marjorie Barnes was born and raised in New York City. Her career in entertainment has been exciting and varied. Spanning more than 30 years, she has made a name for herself as an actress, singer and entertainer. Her Broadway credits include starring roles in the musicals Hair, I Love My Wife, The Magic Show, Pal Joey, and Dream Girls as well as thedrama Freeman. In the mid 70's, she moved to California to replace Marilyn McCoo as the lead vocalist in the renowned pop group The 5th Dimension; touring and recording with them for two years.

In 1978, Ms. Barnes was asked to take over the starring role in the West End production of Bubbling Brown Sugar in London. Ms. Barnes made Europe her home living first in England, then Paris, Vienna and finally settling in Holland where she married, raised two sons and continued performing. She became known throughout Europe as a first class actress, performer and jazz vocalist. She has performed in musicals and jazz festivals, with symphonies and big bands and with her own trio. Ms. Barnes has had her own Dutch television special, "Dit is Marjorie", as well as performing on most of the important Dutch television shows from the 1980's up until 2000. She has taught master classes in Holland and Germany and helped create the jazz departments at the Hilversum Conservatory and Queen's Royal Conservatory in Den Haag.

The Trustus Main Stage will be swingin' as Marjorie Barnes and Dick Goodwin and his Big Band take the stage for a truly special concert event in Columbia. There will also be a special featured performance of Unbound Dance and soloists of the Dick Goodwin Big Band. Trustus Theatre is located at 520 Lady Street, behind the Gervais St. Publix. Parking is available on Lady St. and on Pulaski St. The Main Stage entrance is located on the Publix side of the building.
