The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is proud to present ShakeScenes, a free collection of Shakespeare's "greatest hits," today, July 18 and tomorrow, July 19 at 2:00pm at Notre Dame's historic Washington Hall. Coordinated by the Robinson Community Learning Center's Christy Burgess, each free performance offers a creative variety of ten-minute scenes that are sure to delight the entire family.
At this year's ShakeScenes, see your favorite Star Wars scenes acted out in verse, an epic cooking battle inspired by the Bard, a Shakespearean spoof on Saturday Night Live, and much more! Over the course of one weekend, actors of all ages from throughout the community present their own unique spins on some of Shakespeare's most beloved works. "In ShakeScenes," says Burgess, "we are able to ponder to be or not to be Darth Vader or to be or not to be a 1950's greaser Falstaff; the possibilities are endless. South Bend is a special place and I believe ShakeScenes represents the best of it. People from extremely diverse backgrounds become a family that celebrates each other through Shakespeare."
Performances are free but require a ticket. Visit shakespeare.nd.edu/tickets or call (574) 631- 2800 to make your reservation.
