Presented in association with the University of Cape Town Drama Department, the New Voices Festival is an exciting platform for emerging Theatre Makers to showcase their work. Taking place on the Hiddingh Campus in Orange Steet, Gardens, this festival marks the debut of the Drama Department's graduating students into the professional theatre arena. The works presented aim to interrogate a multitude of topics from a contemporary Southern African perspective.

Three venues will host nine different productions on a rotating schedule. In the P3 Studio, the programme includes Qondiswa James's SILINDILE (with Noxolo Blandile and Nolufefe Ntshuntshe), Matthew Muller's BREASTS: A PLAY ABOUT MEN (with Cameron Robertson) and Tiisetso Mashifane's THE PERSISTENCE OF SAINTHOOD (with Tevin Musara, Mphumzi Nontshinga, Cullum McCormack Adam Lennox and Simphiwe Shabalala).

The line-up in the P4 Studio includes Puleng Stewart's THE DANGEROUS MISADVENTURES OF CHAOS AND ORDER (with Naledi Majola and Molatelo Maffa), Chloe Cattin's NEST (with Lulu Read and Bianca Oosthuizen) and Ntombi Makhutshi's production of Motshabi Tyelele's SHWELE BAWO (with Anathi Godlo and Tshegofatso Mabutla).

Productions appearing in the Arena Theatre include Olivia Fischer's STILL (with Jazzara Jaslyn, Laura Lee Mostert and Nelson Menell), Kanya VIljoen's RAAK (with David Viviers and Anoecha Kruger) and Andi Colombo's PAN (with Tailyn Ramsamy).

Performances take place at 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 nightly until Friday. Talkbacks with the directors and casts of each production will happen after the 21:00 performances on 6 - 8 December. On Saturday, the programme begins at noon, with a different production going up every hour.

Do not miss out on the opportunity to see works by theatre-makers at the beginning of their respective careers. Tickets cost R80 for members of the general public, with a R50 concession price for students and pensioners. Bookings can be made by email, with payment to be made in cash upon arrival at the box office in the foyer of the Little Theatre. Free secure parking and a cash bar are available. Follow the New Voices Festival on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr for further information about the productions or to see the full schedules for the festival.
