THRU HIKE: A NEW MUSICAL to Make Boston Debut at Boston Center for the Arts

Punctuate4 Productions will bring Thru Hike: A New Musical to the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont St., Boston, for a limited workshop run, through June 5-7.

Based on a true story. In 2017, Adrienne and Erin Burke-Moran walked the 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail - not as a bucket list item, but as a reckoning. They had careers, a life that looked right from the outside, and a growing feeling they were disappearing inside it. So they left.

What they found was harder than the hiking. Two people who love each other, walking toward different futures at different speeds. The ground beneath them is the ground beneath all of us - the version of your life you perform, the version you actually want, and the cost of being honest about that with the person you're closest to. This play arrived at those questions through lived experience. That difference will be visible on stage.

Written by Adrienne Burke-Moran, with original music composed on the trail by Erin Burke-Moran and songs from his decade-plus with the post-rock band Caspian, who performed more than 800 concerts across 40 countries. Directed by Myriam Cyr, BroadwayWorld's 2021 Best Director and artistic director of Punctuate4 Productions, with Michelle Joyner, whose recent directing credits include sold-out runs at New Jersey Rep and the Dorset Theatre Festival.

The cast features Brian A. Mason as Erin and Janet Pohli as Adrienne, with Torin Cox, and Sharon Mason in the ensemble.

A post-show talkback with the cast and creative team will follow the Saturday, June 6 matinee. Tickets are $20 and available at bostontheatrescene.com
