Stand-Up Show UNTITLED Shimmies into Alexander Bar's Upstairs Theatre
SHIMMY ISAACS: UNTITLED, an hour-long stand-up comedy show written and performed by Shimmy Isaacs, will play a 6-performance season the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre this autumn.
A writer, producer, actress and stand-up comedian, Isaacs was born and raised in Worcester born. She went from runaway teen to become an AFDA film school Honours Graduate and one of Cape Town's most entertaining and skilled comedy female performers. As well as gearing up for the upcoming season of SHIMMY ISAACS: UNTITLED, Isaacs is also preparing for the second season of her Afrikaans show, KEN JY MY, and is also working with Whack Management productions to create an Afrikaans comedy show with John Vlismas and his team.
SHIMMY ISAACS: UNTITLED explores Isaacs's journey to a new body with an old face. Life has changed tremendously for her, going from casting-going comedian actress to request comedian actress. She has overcome models, commercials and even bread-eating to become, she says, South Africa's most beloved comedian actress:
This stand-up show is about change and how I have changed. I am adjusting to my early 30s and it's not easy as I have become obsessed with youthfulness. Learning from past mistakes, finding laughter in those times of hecticness, learning how to move on from an Old self into New self. My new way of life makes me less of an Afrikaner now that I don't eat bread.
SHIMMY ISAACS: UNTITLED opens on 14 April, with performances taking place until 23 April, with all shows starting at 19:00. Tickets cost R80-R90 and can be booked online at the Alexander Bar's website. Tickets can also be purchased at the bar, which is situated at 76 Strand Street in Cape Town's city centre, anytime during its regular opening hours.
