Artscape is delighted to announce a public call for applications for all theatre and performing arts makers who would be interested in the staging of new work for the New Voices programme in 2016. This call for applications is for performing arts genres and selected work will be staged during the New Voices Season in 2016.
The programme is interested in South African and African content by South Africans and Africans. Emerging scriptwriters, directors or theatre-makers, storytellers and artists who work in individual creative disciplines or interdisciplinary performance forms are invited to propose theatrical stories of historical or national significance to South Africa or Africa, stories that deal with issues of culture, heritage, identity and language in a diverse society. Objectives of the New Voices Programme include reclaiming and restoring marginalised aesthetics, content and language in arts and performances, as well as reclaiming and restoring dignity and confidence to individual and communities that have been disregarded and under-represented.
The call for applications opened on 14 October and scripts, concepts, synopses, invitations to showcases or presentations of the work as part of Artscape Showcase, which will be organised for all those interested to showcase their work, need to be faciliated by the closing date of 14 February 2016.
