Lefra Productions and RSG's popular Oppiwater Arts Festival, which is presented onboard the luxurious MSC Sinfonia, has just been nominated for a Fiesta Award as the most popular festival in 2016. The festival is unique, with no similar festival presented on any other cruise liner worldwide.

Frans Swart, Lefra's managing director, and Magdalena Kruger, RSG's station manager, say that they are excited that the Oppiwater Arts Festival has received this special nomination, particularly because of their pride in putting together a festival that promotes South African arts and culture.

The Oppiwater Arts Festival offers festivalgoers the opportunity to experience an entire festival on board the ship, with up to twenty different productions on offer. Audiences can relax, with their accommodation and meals all included as a part of the package. The 2017 Oppiwater Festival is currently open for booking, with the departure date set for 30 April. Departing from Cape Town, the cruise sails to Namibia's beautiful Luderitz and Walvis Bay with the following wonderful productions on offer: AS DROME VLERKE KRY with Hennie Smit and Arina De Witt, BLOU-BLOU with Erik Holm, BONJOUR MONSIEUR BREL with Jannie du Toit, Susan Mouton and Coenraad Rall, CHRISTO EN COBUS with Christo Snyman and Cobus Snyman, DIE EGGO VAN JOU OË with Jannie du Toit, DIE JALOERSBOKKIES with Jawaaiher Pietersen, Nedine Blom and Ashur Pietersen, DIE WYN, DIE VROU, DIE LIED with Johan Rademan, Christo Snyman and Hennie Retief with a full wine-tasting by Van Loveren Wines, Dalene Matthee's FIELA SE KIND adapted by Suzanne van Wijk en directed by Frans Swart, KOM KOOK MET MARTELIZE with Martelize Brink, MY PASSIE VIR JESUS with John Jacobs, OOMS with Tobie Cronjé and Gerben Kamper, OP DIE EERSTE EEN with Pieter Smith; REFENTSE with Refentse Morake, an RSG radio drama with Johan Rademan as director, SOEN MY, DRUK MY with Alwyn Oberholster and STOUT (BAIE STOUT) MET DERRICH with Derrich Gardner. Various artists will also form part of the party that takes place when the MSC Sinfonia takes sail, the Oppiwater blast, RSG's direct foreign broadcasts from the deck and "meet the artists" sessions.
