Musical Theatre Double Bill to Play the Galloway Theatre, 28 June

A fun and funky musical theatre double bill is set to hit the stage of the Galloway Theatre as two brand new productions that are headed off to the National Arts Festival in July perform for one-night-only at this intimate new performance venue in Cape Town's Foreshore.

First up at the Galloway is YOU BET YOUR LIFE! A devilishly funny new musical comedy by Roland Perold and David Fick, the show is set in a game show where a special guest Jonny Evans is forced to put his heart and soul are on the line, due to the little fact that he has just cashed in their chips! With show host Timothy Radcliffe trying to secure his own redemption, scenes from Jonny's life are replayed with purgatorial relish. Will Jonny be able to save his soul? Or will be stuck in afterlife TV reruns forever and ever? Only a trip to YOU BET YOUR LIFE! can answer those questions! Directed by David Fick, the show stars Roland Perold (a Standard Bank Ovation Award Winner for his production of I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE), Steven van Wyk (a Special Silver Standard Bank Ovation Award winner for PLASTIC) and Amy Trout (a Fleur du Cap and Naledi Award nominee for her work in KAT AND THE KINGS) .

Second up in this entertaining double bill is BEARABLE BROADWAY, a cabaret for people who love to hate all of those hackneyed Broadway show tunes. Fall in love with them again as they are affectionately sent up by two bears in the business, in this homage to kitsch and ode to camp! Steven van Wyk, from hit musicals DIRTY DANCING, SUNSET BOULEVARD and THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and Martin Harding, fresh from jetting around the world serenading legions of fans whilst performing for Norwegian Cruise Line, invite you to buckle up tight and prepare for take-off as two teddy bear air stewards take you on a riotous journey of warped show tunes, turning your in-flight safety demonstration into a cabaret extravaganza celebration! You know all the songs, but you've never seen them performed like this. With no economy seats on this flight, kick back with some CHORUS LINE style high kicks and get ready to relax with loads of leg room to tap those feet like Shirley Temple.
