After a sensational season at the Baxter Main Theatre earlier this month, top comedian Marc Lottering will be bringing his hit show THIS IS CAPTAIN LOTTERING SPEAKING back to the Mother City for consecutive runs at two of Cape Town's most iconic performance venues, Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay and the Baxter Concert Hall in Rondebosch, between November and January, following an October run at Pieter Toerien's Montecasino Theatre and Studio in Johannesburg.
Aside from Lottering's side splitting stand-up comedy, the show will also feature the hugely popular characters that have made this comedian a household name in South Africa. Aunty Merle finds herself at the Airport Departures Hall armed with a freshly baked tart for her friend Rose Kannemeyer, who is off to visit family in Jo'burg. Pop idol wannabe Galatia Geduldt is on a plane, and finally off to the City of Gold to record her first demo after meeting a producer in a take-away in the Bo-Kaap. Pastor Brandon is taking a short break from the church, and leaving for the States after a tabloid newspaper publishes a story about him and his "laying on of hands" approach as witnessed in a parked car at Sunrise Circle in Muizenberg. Lottering is one of South Africa's top award winning comedians. He has been in the funny business for 16 years, and continues to play to packed houses wherever he performs. Although he calls Cape Town his home, he keeps audiences in stitches across the country. He has extensive experience in both theatre and television, and has written no fewer than fifteen one-man hit shows for the stage. When not performing locally, he also entertains homesick South Africans abroad. He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards along the way.
