Lebogang Mogashoa

Lebogang Mogashoa will return to the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre with his comic storytelling show, WHEN WE WERE NEARLY YOUNG, this January. Written and performed by Mogashoa, WHEN WE WERE NEARLY YOUNG debuted at Alexander Bar last year to a great respnse.

In WHEN WE WERE NEARLY YOUNG, Mogashoa tells real stories from his life with humour and candor. He's survived North Korean bomb threats. He's the one to call when you need help recovering from secret jaw-shaving cosmetic surgery. He knows which celebrity-endorsed detox diet causes Martha Stewart hallucinations. And he knows what it is like to live inside a political campaign. The show is modelled after storytelling shows like THIS AMERICAN LIFE, THE MOTH and RISK!

This time around Mogashoa shares hilarious and poignant stories about helping a friend hide from her family while recovering from secret plastic surgery, the highs and lows of his mother's political campaign, a carefully planned but disastrous first kiss, an unexpected religious conversion and living close next-door to North Korea for five years. These are tales often shared among friends after a really good meal. They are personal and are sure to leave audiences feeling less alone in the world.

WHEN WE WERE NEARLY YOUNG runs at the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre from 19 - 22 January at 7pm. Tickets can be booked securely online using a credit card by visiting alexanderbar.co.za/show/WWWNY and can also be purchased in person at the bar anytime during our regular opening hours, from Mondays through Saturdays between 11am and 1am. Telephone bookings can be made on 021 300 1652. Alexander Bar & Café is located on 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town CBD and can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
