Junkets Releases ISYSTEM

Junkets has announced the publication of Anele Rusi's ISYSTEM, coinciding with its staging as part of the 9th Artscape Spring Drama Season.

ISYSTEM, currently running at the Artscape Arena until 30 November, fearlessly confronts issues of police corruption. A policeman is accused of shooting an innocent, unarmed bystander. The inquest that follows reveals not only the cracks in his psyche, but those in the "system" he risks his life for. This play fearlessly confronts issues of police corruption. Directed by Fatima Dike, the cast includes Sizwe Msutu, Thembani Luzipho, Riaan Visman Zondwa Njokweni and Stefan Erasmus. The set and costume designs are by Willem Breyl. ISYSTEM is the third Playscript in the NewVOiCES series. The first two NewVOiCES Playscripts, already published, were Christo Davids and Jody J Abrahams's BULLETS OVER BISHOP LAVIS and Sinethemba Twani's THE BENEFICIARY. Still to come in this NewVOiCES series of new and adventurous plays are Philip Rademeyer's THE VIEW and Khayelihle Dom Gumede's CREPUSCULE.
