Jason D Martin's awarding winning 1994 play, DYING LIGHT, explores the bittersweet love of two young adults, Tom and Jenny, who meet in the most unlikely of places. Directed by Byron Bure (THE REGULARS) and starring Corni Bergh and Kyle Jardine, DYING LIGHT examines the difficulty of having to make choices when life throws you curveballs.

A former high school drama teacher, Martin holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has become a prolific playwright and has had seven of his plays published in different anthologies. Numerous productions of these plays and others have been performed throughout the United States and Europe. He has received three Meritorious Achievement Awards from the American College Theatre Festival for excellence in playwriting. As a screenwriter, Martin's credits include the adaptation of John Weld's book FLY AWAY HOME into a screenplay for Laguna Films in California. In addition to writing for theatre and film, Martin is a critic who has seen his work published in newspapers throughout North America.

In 1995, Martin was the Northwest Drama Conference Regional Playwright Winner for DYING LIGHT, which was awarded the Best One Act Play prize at the American College Theatre Festival the following year. The play deals with the horrors of facing one's own mortality as two young people find love and horror in a cancer ward, an exploration into the deepest form of love that one can imagine.

DYING LIGHT runs at the Galloway Theatre from 6 - 9 August 2014. The show starts at 8pm and runs for an hour. "Like" the Galloway Theatre on Facebook to be kept up to date with all events at the theatre.
