The Sioux City Community Theater will continue its 2009-2010 season with upcoming productions of ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, THE ODD COUPLE FEMALE VERSION, and ANNIE.
ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT, written by Jeff Daniels, will play February 18-20 at 7:30 pm, February 21 at 2:00 pm, February 25-27 at 7:30 pm, and February 28 at 2:00 pm.When the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family's Upper Peninsula camp, 25-year-old Reuben Soady brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soadys never to bag a buck. The play spins a tale as Reuben goes to any and all lengths to remove himself from the wrong end of the family record book. SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, a musical revue, is "about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back." You'll be transported from the deck of a 1942 Spanish ship to a ledge of 57 stories above Fifth Avenue. You'll meet an array of character ranging from a young man who believes that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams.
