The students write a controversial show called 'Don't ask, Don't tell' about straight people in the military, which becomes the catalyst for a young man and woman to fall in love. Enter Zanna, a magical, musical fairy who, with a wave of his wand, brings true love to one and all.

ANIKA LARSEN, the 2014 Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner currently starring on Broadway in Beautiful -- The Carole King Musical, introduced her debut solo CD Sing you to Sleep with a special concert at Birdland Jazz Club as part of the 'Broadway at Birdland' series last night, March 23. Jonathan D Ellis (Les Miserables, Blood Brothers) will star in the Landor Theatre's revival of Adler and Ross' Damn Yankees as the Mephistophelean Applegate, the role popularised by Jerry Lewis in the 1990s Broadway and West End productions. He will be joined by Poppy Tierney (The Witches of Eastwick, Watermill Theatre, and Batman Live UK Tour) as Lola - 'the best homewrecker on the devil's staff', Alex Lodge (Saturday Night Fever UK Tour) as Joe Hardy - a crack baseball player who isn't all he seems, and Tony Stansfield as Van Buren, the role he first played in the 1990s West End run. David Ribi, Nic Kyle, Sarah Goggin and Chloe Taylor will star in the London production, which is to be staged on the romantic location of The Battersea Barge, moored on the banks of the River Thames near Battersea Power Station.

Kandel and John McCormack, Producing Directors) presents SUMMER SHORTS 5, their fifth annual festival of new American short plays from established and emerging writers, at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street). Performances began Thursday August 4th, and continue through Saturday September 3rd. This season's cast includes Mando Alvarado, Jeff Binder, Christian Campbell, James Chen, Nick Choksi, Erin Darke, Crystal Finn, Arthur French, Meg Gibson, Kathryn Grody, Beth Hoyt, Neal Huff, J.J. Kandel, Megan Ketch, TEd Koch, Jodie Markell, Shirley A. Rumierk, Socorro Santiago, Rebecca Schull, Ryan Cyrus Shams, Victor Slezak, AiDan Sullivan, Louise Sullivan, Maryann Towne, Ryan Tramont, and Lydia Weintraub. ENTER LAUNGHING was visited by Oscar winner Celeste Holm and actor/director Rob Reiner, whose father Carl wrote the book upon which the show is based. The YORK THEATRE COMPANYrecently announced that ENTER LAUGHING: THE MUSICAL will be extended. Performances will now continue through October 26th; all performances will be at the company's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's.

Over the weekend, Dr. Ruth Westheimer paid a visit to the new musical 'Enter Laughing', presented by York Theater Company. Dr. Ruth is a sex therapist and author who came into celebrity in the 1980's. She has continued to support the American theater and has participated in several events for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and 'Broadway Barks'.

The YORK THEATRE COMPANY (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) will present ENTER LAUGHING: THE MUSICAL. Performances begin September 3rd with opening night set for September 10. This limited engagement runs through October 12; all performances will be at the company's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's (Lexington Avenue just south of 54th Street).

Jaradoa Theater presents Serenade, a new musical, beginning Saturday, December 1 through December 15 at Teatro La Tea (107 Suffolk Street, between Delancey & Rivington). The book and lyrics for Serenade are by Rachel Sheinkin, winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She also co-authored Off-Broadway's Striking 12, which recently launched a nationwide tour. The kinetic score for Serenade, composed by Nils Olaf Dolven, mixes electronica, pop and classical elements.
