All of these companies were planning to premiere their works live in the U.S. this year but shifted to adapt. One takeaway is clear, the continent of Africa is producing some of the most exciting and innovative dance worldwide while remaining true to their roots. I am incredibly proud of all my kids and Ryan is pursuing his dream as a performer. He has been performing for quite awhile now as a professional and I have had the idea that this would be so since about his Junior year in High School. I have always taken the time to include my kids (when they have shown an interest) into the shows I was doing. Ryan and his older sister, Kaitlynn, were able to be more inundated with it at a young age as I was more active as a professional performer and they got to be backstage and at rehearsal, and often in shows with me. Whenever I was in a show that needed kids, I got them an audition and, since they were talented, often got cast, so we were able to share the stage. Sound of Music, South Pacific, Music Man, Secret Garden, A Christmas Carol, all shows that my kids been able to share with me.

Bernard Slade. Name sound familiar? Probably not. How about 'Bewitched,' 'The Flying Nun,' 'The Partridge Family,' 'Bridget Loves Bernie?' Slade and all of those mid-1900 television shows do have a connection. He developed, authored or worked on all of them!

Side Show made history on Opening Night, last night November 17 at 7:45 p.m. when Clear Channel Spectacolor broadcasted the show-stopping Act I finale in Times Square with never before used audio technology on one of their digital billboards. The rousing Act I finale, 'Who Will Love Me as I Am?,' sung by the show's two leading ladies, Erin Davie and Emily Padgett, was the first live performance in history aired in Times Square.

In Washington, it is not unusual to see Marine One fly the first family to the presidential retreat - Naval Support Facility Thurmont, more commonly known as Camp David. A trip to the wooded retreat located 62 miles north of the nation's capital in Thurmont, Maryland, is usually intended to be a relaxing weekend for the nation's chief executive. However, 36 years ago it became the crux of American foreign policy in the Middle East and home to a summit that was anything but tranquil. After five wars in less than three decades, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin were brought together by President Jimmy Carter to broker peace between the two nations. The resulting Camp David Accords would be a highpoint of American foreign policy in the twentieth century. The story behind the Accords is the focus of Arena's Stage's world premiere production of Camp David.

Last week, The Southern California Motion Picture Council presented their Annual Golden Halo Award Presentation. Among those being honored were Ja'net DuBois, Bridget MacDonald and John Pierre, but the evenings highlight was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to actress, comedienne and humanitarian, Geri Jewell. Among those in attendance to honor Ms. Jewell, were Alison Arngrim, Ed Asner, Kelsey Collins, June Faray, Ford Austin, Rose Marie, Margaret O'Brien and a special letter sent by Norman Lear.
