Porchlight Music Theatre's 25th anniversary season began with the 14th Annual Chicago Sings concert: Chicago Sings 25 Years of Porchlight, Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m., at The Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago Ave, directed by Christopher Pazdernik and Artistic Director Michael Weber with music direction by David Fiorello and a band featuring Kelsey Boltz, Cara Hartz, John McCreary, Greg Strauss, Celeste Park and Jake Saleh.
REPRISE 2.0 (led by Producing Artistic Director Marcia Seligson), in association with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT) chaired by Brian Kite, presents its inaugural production of Sweet Charity. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, the classic Broadway hit plays through July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. On Thursday Evening, October 30th, there was certainly "Magic to Do" backstage at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Ben Vereen, the original "Leading Player" in the 1972 Broadway production of PIPPIN, visited with the cast backstage after watching the performance. Ben was reunited with his original "Pippin", actor John Rubinstein ("Charles"), with whom Ben appeared in the original Broadway production helmed by Bob Fosse. Yesterday at 88 Madison Avenue, the cast of Pippin celebrated the show's new partnership with Carlton Hotel with a live performance, nail art painting provided by Caravan Stylist Studio and circus-inspired refreshments provided by the Carlton hotel. The Carlton hotel's new PIPPIN the Musical Package will be available starting January, running through March 2014. The package includes overnight luxury accommodations, tickets to PIPPIN, cocktails at restaurant Millesime and a CD soundtrack from the show.

The legendary Betty Buckley went backstage last night at the Music Box Theatre to visit fellow actress Tovah Feldshuh, who's currently subbing for Andrea Martin as 'Berthe' in the Tony-winning revival of PIPPIN.
