A Red Orchid Theatre continues 2016- 2017 Season with the Chicago premiere of The Nether, written by Jennifer Haley,directed by Ensemble Member Karen Kessler. The Nether features Ensemble Members Guy Van Swearingen and Doug Vickers with Maya Hlava, Ashley Neal and Steve Schine. The production runs January 26 - March 12, 2017, at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells. Press Opening is January 30, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Brown Paper Box Co. opened its 2016/2017 season with Mary'z with a 'Z,' a cover-to-cover tribute to 1972's Emmy-winning 'Liza With a 'Z' broadcast featuring BPBCo. members, alumni, and fresh faces presenting and reinventing Bob Fosse & Marvin Hamlisch's set list in its entirety. Just this morning, Something Rotten and Spotlight star Brian d'Arcy James along with this season's break-out and genuflecting sensation Jennifer Simard from Broadway's Disaster announced the The Outer Critics Circle nominees for the 2015-16 season from New York's legendary Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street.) Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season. Of note, because they were eligible last year for their Off-Broadway incarnations, HAMILTON, BLACKBIRD and DISASTER! were only eligible for new elements.
Opening night is Thursday, March 10, for David Harrower's BLACKBIRD, the Olivier Award-winning drama starring Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams, and directed by Joe Mantello. BLACKBIRD is playing at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street) for an 18-week limited engagement through June 11, 2016. Previews began Friday, February 5.
