Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the nation’s premier ensemble theater company, is opening its stunning new in-the-round Ensemble Theater in Honor of Helen Zell with ensemble member Yasen Peyankov’s extraordinarily funny and lyrical adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, April 28–June 12, 2022.

Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company honored the great Chit Rivera at its 2022 Gala 'Paint the Town' at the Ziegfield Ballroom in New York City. The evening celebrated Ms. Rivera's contribution to the theater and include the presentation of The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Patty Duke, who received a supporting actress Oscar for the role of Helen Keller in THE MIRACLE WORKER, died at age 69.

This musical adaptation of Twelfth Night has all the hilarious hijinks and unrequited love of Shakespeare's famous comedy. A mistaken identity sets off a chain of events that has everything topsy-turvy. As these classic characters sing of romance and shenanigans, you'll be transported to a mythical land of love. RIOULT Dance NY, a leading American modern dance company with a classic sensibility, has announced its eight-performance New York Season June 4-9, 2013 at The Joyce Theater. The Season includes the World Premiere of Artistic Director/Choreographer Pascal Rioult's newest work, Iphigenia, a dance drama inspired by the Greek heroine of the same name from Euripides' 'Iphigenia in Aulis.' The piece was created in collaboration with Composer Michael Torke and features his newly commissioned score, which will be performed live by the Camerata New York Orchestra. The Season program also includes the critically acclaimed On Distant Shores (2011), the powerful Prelude to Night (2002), and one of the company's signature works, Bolero (2002). The Road to Mecca will begin previews on December 16 and open officially on January 17, 2012 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway.

On April 11, 2011, Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre honored esteemed stage and screen actress Bernadette Peters with the company's second Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, was presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The 2011 Sondheim Award Gala was chaired by Ted and Mary Jo Shen; Honorary Hosts include Stephen Sondheim, Helen Henderson, His Excellency Gary Doer and Ms. Ginny Devine, The Honorable James Moran, His Excellency Giulio Terzi and Ms. Antonella Cinque, and The Honorable Jim Webb and Mrs. Webb. The Sondheim Award Gala helped to benefit Signature Theatre's numerous artistic, education, and community programs. Last year's recipient was stage, screen, and television icon Angela Lansbury. Yesterday, February 1, the entertainment community bid farewell to one of its most influential members, Academy Award-winning producer of stage and screen David Brown. He died at his Manhattan home of kidney failure at age 93.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) concludes its 30th Anniversary mainstage season with the New York premiere of VANITIES, a new musical written by Jack Heifner, featuring music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by Judith Ivey. With musical staging by Dan Knechtges, VANITIES features Lauren Kennedy, Sarah Stiles, and Anneliese van der Pol.

David Mamet's 'Oleanna' opens at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum on Friday, June 5, at 8 p.m. Featuring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles under the direction of Tony Award-winner Doug Hughes, 'Oleanna' continues through July 12.

Last night, July 29th, Broadway World's cameras were on hand as Whoopi Goldberg returned to the Broadway stage for a six week engagement in the hit musical 'Xanadu'. She will be playing of Caliope now through September 7th at the Helen Hayes.
