Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the nation’s premier ensemble theater company, is opening its stunning new in-the-round Ensemble Theater in Honor of Helen Zell with ensemble member Yasen Peyankov’s extraordinarily funny and lyrical adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, April 28–June 12, 2022.

The League of Chicago Theatres held the 2018 Annual Gala, an elegant event that brings together friends of Chicago theatre to raise funds for programs to support Chicagoland's more than 250-member theatre companies. The event, which had 245 attendees and raised $125,000, was held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, 120 E. Delaware Place. 

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Anne Jackson, who was nominated for a Tony in 1956 for MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and who enjoyed a long career with her husband, Eli Wallach, died Tuesday, April 12, in Manhattan. She was 90.

Walnut Street Theatre's 2013-2014 Independence Studio on 3 season continues with the Olivier Award-winner for Best Comedy, THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE. Written by Jim Cartwright, and directed by Dan Olmstead, the production opens tomorrow, March 27th and continues through April 13th in the Walnut's Independence Studio on 3. Pulitzer Prize-winner Lawrence Wright premieres his new play at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. It is a fictional play about the last days of legendary journalist Oriana Fallaci. Don't miss this sizzling new script, which is directed by Oskar Eustis, stars Concetta Tomei and Marjan Neshat, and features an incredible team of designers. The 65th world premiere presented by Berkeley Rep, Fallaci is currently in previews in the Roda Theatre and opens March 13, running through April 21. Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) is proud to announce casting, dates and a director for the American premiere of Olivier Award nominee Moira Buffini's award-winning play GABRIEL, which will mark the final main stage production of Atlantic's 2009-2010 season.

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Producing Director Richard M. Parison, Jr., presents Tennessee Williams' masterwork, A Streetcar Named Desire, as part of the theater's 15th Anniversary Season. Directed by Julianne Boyd, Streetcar stars three-time Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie as Blanche DuBois and Christopher Innvar as Stanley Kowalski, and will play on the Mainstage through August 29th, 2009, with a Press Opening which took place Sunday, August 9 at 5pm.

Yale Repertory Theatre (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) presents the east coast premiere of Lydia by Octavio Solis, directed by Juliette Carrillo at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street, at York Street) beginning February 6 through February 28. Opening Night is Thursday, February 12. Lydia features music composed by Chris Webb; sets by Andrew Boyce; costumes by Amanda Seymour; lighting by Jesse Belsky; sound design, additional music, and arrangements by David Molina; voice and dialect by Beth McGuire; fight direction by Rick Sordelet; dramaturgy by Matt Cornish; and stage management by Donald E. Claxon.

On Monday, November 19 television's tough-as-nails mob sister becomes Broadway's newest red-hot mama, when two-time Emmy Award nominee Aida Turturro ('The Sopranos') steps into the celebrated role of Matron 'Mama' Morton, the reigning cellblock diva of the hit musical Chicago. Joining Turturro is fellow 'Sopranos' co-star Vincent Pastore, who makes his Broadway stage debut as Roxie Hart's endearing but nearly invisible husband, Amos.

Alec Baldwin, who recently headlined in 'Entertaining Mr.Sloane,' had his portrait unveiled at Tony's DiNapoli May 22.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center honored Jessica Lange at it's 34th Annual Gala, at Avery Fisher Hall, New York City on April 17th
