What did our critic think of DRACULA: THE BLOODY TRUTH at Great Lakes Theater? The cast worked hard, the stagehands did their part with great enthusiasm, but all in all DRACULA: THE BLOODY TRUTH just didn’t live up to expectations.

Director Lisa Leguillou’s tweeked version of Joe Mantello’s original production of Stephen Schwartz (Music and Lyrics) and Winnie Holzman’s (Book) multi-award winning WICKED arrives in Sydney for the 20th Anniversary of the multi award winning musical’s opening on Broadway.

The University of Hawai'i at M?noa's Department of Theatre and Dance presents A Midsummer Night's Bollywood Dream on February 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. and February 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. on the Kennedy Theatre mainstage. Shakespeare's most popular comedy meets the high-energy song and dance of Bollywood as magic rules the forest and the mischievous creatures play havoc with everyone's love life. The play is co-directed by UHM Professor, Paul Mitri, and Dr. Sai Bhatawadekar, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for South Asian Studies. Original music and lyrics are composed by Ike Webster and Bhatawadekar, who is also the production's dance choreographer. Free pre-show chats will take place at 6:45 p.m. preceding the performances on February 2 and 9. February 2 is also the 'Throwback Saturday' performance featuring prices from the 'good old days' of $5-$15. Regularly priced tickets are $8-$25.

Tony Award nominee and renowned Broadway actor Michel Bell makes his Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston debut this month. Bell will revive the role of JOE, the performance that earned him a Tony Award nomination in Hal Prince's 1995 Broadway production of Show Boat. Bell's bass-baritone delivery of the iconic song 'Ol' Man River' brought audiences to their feet on Broadway. Bell brings his immense talents to the Reagle stage now through July 16 for 8 performances only, in this intimate Goodspeed Musicals version of the Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II masterpiece. The dog days of summer arrive early this year, as Rubicon Theatre Company presents a spring production of A.R. Gurney's howlingly funny canine comedy SYLVIA, a love story about empty nesters Greg and Kate, and an irrepressible mutt named Sylvia. Written by Drama Desk, Obie and Lortel Award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney (also known for Love Letters and The Dining Room), the plot follows what happens after a man going through a midlife crisis finds a dog in Central Park and brings her home without consulting his wife.

In the 1995 comedy SYLVIA by A.R. Gurney, married couple Greg (Steve Howard revisiting the role he played with Tanna in 2011) and Kate (appropriately named Beege Barkette) are empty-nesters in the big city. In the opening scene, Greg and Sylvia arrive home after meeting in the park where Sylvia, a bouncy, frisky poodle mix, literally adopted Greg. Tanna jumps up and down, running around just as a new dog inside a home would react, her nervousness and excitement leading her to smell every single inch of the place, leave a liquid deposit, and then remind her new companion over and over again how he is her God she will love and respect forever - as long as he never hits her.

The exuberant cast of BYE BYE BIRDIE will 'spread sunshine all over the place' in this summertime sensation directed by Jenn Thompson. Ms. Thompson's new take on this youthful classic includes two new songs, 'BYE BYE BIRDIE' from the 1963 film and 'A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore' from the 1995 television presentation along with crisp new dance arrangements by accomplished composer of Broadway, film and television David Krane.  Check out a sneak peek below!

The house was estrogen-filled last night at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Packed with women and a handful of brave men, the audience responded with knowing bursts of laughter as they listened to five women on stage talk about marking memorable occasions...the good, the bad, and the ugly... with what they wore. LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE will resonate with all women.

For the holiday season, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre presents three classic one-acts by three celebrated writers, LOVE STORIES, now through December 20, 2015. The production features VILLAGE WOOING by George Bernard Shaw, THE JEWISH WIFE by Bertolt Brecht and HERE WE ARE by Dorothy Parker. Real-life married couple James Pickering and Tami Workentin star in LOVE STORIES under the direction of Paula Suozzi. The box office of the Cort Theatre (138 W. 48th Street) went to dogs on Friday, August 28, 2015, when it opened for business for A.R. Gurney's comedy Sylvia. In celebration of Sylvia coming to Broadway for the first time since its MTC debut in 1995, patrons who went to the box office between 10am-12pm EST were able to purchase tickets for preview performances for only $19.95 each. Today, we're featuring Glenn Close circa 1995. Close made her professional theater and Broadway debut in Love for Love. Her other early stage credits include The Crucifer of Blood and The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs, for which she won an Obie Award. Close's first Tony Award nomination came for her role in the musical Barnum, and she subsequently won Tony Awards for her performances in The Real Thing and Death and the Maiden. For her portrayal of Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Sunset Boulevard, Close won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and a Dramalogue Award.

LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE, now playing at Aux Dog Theatre, deals with far more meaningful topics than the title may suggest. Written by Nora Ephron (WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE…) and sister, Delia Ephron, this is definitely a theatrical experience by, for and about, women.

Route 66 premiered the rehabbed Jalopy, High Fidelity, last night at Pipers Alley. However, when a show only lasts fourteen performances in its Broadway Debut, it might just be worth it to let sleeping dogs lie. Based on the 1995 Nick Hornby novel and the 2000 John Cusack film, High Fidelity introduces us to Rob, a record-store owner with the emotional maturity of a child and takes us on his journey to get the love of his live, Laura, back and maybe just grow the heck up.

CHEKHOV'S LIFE IN THE COUNTRY will play Chicago's Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave., November 7 through December 21, 2008.
