The sold-out audience at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre was dazzled last night, March 21, 2016, by this year's stirring edition of Broadway Backwards. The annual celebration, where men sing songs originally written for women and vice versa offering this audience the chance to see LGBT stories told through the great songs of musical theatre, set a new fundraising record. The evening raised an incredible $480,287 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. This Holiday Season, TheatreWorks New Milford will debut ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani, a warm romantic comedy set under the frigid northern lights. The play opens December 3 at 8:00 p.m. for a five-week run. ALMOST, MAINE is the name of the mythical town in which this delightful romantic comedy takes place, creatively delving into the vast mysteries of the human heart with laughter, heartbreak, and hope. On a cold, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above Almost. Residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. But The Bruises heal and the hearts mend - almost - in this enchanting midwinter night's dream.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) continues its 2008/2009 Season with the New York premiere of THE SAVANNAH DISPUTATION, a new play by Evan Smith (Psych and The Uneasy Chair at Playwrights Horizons, Remedial English for the Young Playwrights Festival at Playwrights Horizons, Servicemen at The New Group). This will be Mr. Smith's fourth collaboration with the theater company. Directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago, New Jerusalem), in his Playwrights Horizons debut, the production will began previews on Friday, February 6, 2009 with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 3 at 7PM. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, March 15 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

A legend in every sense of the word, Chita Rivera, most recently appeared on Broadway in Chita Rivera: A Dancer's Life. She has previously won two Tony Awards and received six additional Tony nominations.
