Don Black OBE is a highly-acclaimed, Oscar-winning lyricist. His works have included movie themes, hit songs, and numerous musicals, including three with Andrew Lloyd Webber: Tell Me on a Sunday, Aspects of Love, and Sunset Boulevard, for which he received two Tony Awards for Best Book and Lyrics, together with Christopher Hampton. Born in New York City in 1950, Friedman began playing the piano at the age of four and was composing music by the time he was six. He attended the Manhattan School of Music and later the Juilliard School, where he studied piano and composition. Friedman made his Broadway debut in 1983 as the conductor and pianist for the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
