Sam Gold began directing Off-Broadway with The Black Eyed at New York Theatre Workshop in 2007, followed by productions including Rag and Bone (2007), Circle Mirror Transformation (2009–2010), The Aliens (2010), Dusk Rings a Bell (2010), Tigers Be Still (2010), and The Coward (2010). In 2011, he directed Kin, August: Osage County, A Doll’s House, and We Live Here.
