He has also worked extensively off-Broadway and at most of the nation's leading resident theaters. He has been awarded the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, Lucille Lortel, Obie, and Callaway Awards for his productions. Born in Illinois in 1955, Van Tieghem began his career as a percussionist and composer, but quickly expanded his talents to include acting and choreography.
