She is known for her innovative productions, which often tackle challenging and thought-provoking subject matter. Born in 1945 in Lakewood, New Jersey, Roth grew up in a family that was deeply involved in the arts. Her father was a musician and her mother was a painter, and they encouraged their daughter to pursue her own creative interests.
